Silent Dinner

TSHA’s Silent Dinners in Tulsa have been called “the granddaddy of them all”! They are the oldest and largest in the state.

What exactly IS a Silent Dinner?
First of all, they’re not at all silent – they’re pretty loud! Secondly, they are THE place for sign language students to practice and for Deaf people of all ages to socialize in sign language. All levels of skill are welcome, from very beginning to native signers. The atmosphere is relaxed and unstructured. Many sign classes come as a class activity.

Where? We meet at the Woodland Hill’s Mall Food Court (occasionally we move to  another location in September for Deaf Awareness Week – check with us). The mall is at 71st and Memorial, and our group tends to gather in the raised area in the center of the food court. There are various food vendors to choose from, however, food purchase is not a requirement.

When? Come after work… about 6:00 p.m. Stay until your hands get tired or the mall turns out the lights (I think they close at 9:00).
