A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) has received
professional training in prevention, identification and assessment of
communication disorders in children and adults. SLPs develop, direct and
implement therapy programs in the areas of language, articulation, voice,
stuttering, aphasia, swallowing and feeding disorders. The SLP can work with
a variety of problems including: cleft palate, cerebral palsy, and mental
retardation. Testing and therapy can be provided in a variety of settings
including: schools, hospitals, public and private clinics, and private
practice.
